Kirk Cresto is a member of the leadership team for phase two of the restoration effort in the Merrimack Valley. In his role as Vice President, Merrimack Valley Operations he is responsible for field operations, equipment repair plan support, construction and paving activities and the replacement program for repaired appliances. He brings with him more than 25 years of experience in the energy industry and has served in a broad range of functions across the industry including human resources, generation, transmission, customer service, billing, financial planning and analysis, regulatory, enterprise risk, and corporate insurance.
Prior to assuming his role at Columbia Gas of Massachusetts, he served as Director Corporate Insurance for NiSource, parent company of Columbia, and was part of the leadership team providing on the ground support during the first phase of the restoration effort as the Zone Commanding Officer responsible for all of Zone Command.
He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but he grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada moving there at a young age with his family. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was accepted into the Reserved Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. As he worked towards his bachelor’s degree in business administration he also served as a certified combat medic and operating room technician.
Kirk went on to earn his master’s degree in business administration from The Ohio State University. He is also a Certified Risk Management Professional holding the RIMS-CRMP designation and is currently pursuing his master’s degree in risk management at Florida State University.
He has five children and is an avid runner and cyclist. Kirk has competed in more than 100 races and is a finisher of the half IRONMAN triathlon race.
Kirk currently lives in Lawrence and will continue to work out of the Columbia Gas Office in the Merrimack Valley.
