Columbia Gas Announces Thanksgiving Plans for Affected Communities

Columbia Gas of Massachusetts today announced that it will be offering Thanksgiving dinner to customers, their family, and friends to show appreciation for their continued patience throughout the recovery effort. The company has plans to provide more than 20,000 meals to people in the affected communities of Andover, Lawrence, and North Andover.

As part of the company’s ongoing efforts to support the communities during the restoration process, it will provide meals for customer pick up at designated locations as well as sit down meals in a community-style setting.

“This year’s Thanksgiving is on us,” said Joe Hamrock, President and CEO of NiSource, the parent company of Columbia Gas. “I understand the ongoing disruption the recovery effort is having on customers’ everyday lives, and I know this is especially trying during the holiday season. We at NiSource and Columbia Gas want to say thanks to residents for their patience and understanding throughout this process. This meal is a small token of our gratitude to them. I’ll be celebrating the holiday here in the Merrimack Valley, and I’m going to ensure we do everything we can to help this community have a happy and healthy start to the holiday season.”

“I know this situation continues to be difficult for those customers who haven’t yet returned to their regular routine,” said Pablo Vegas, Chief Restoration Officer for Columbia Gas. “By providing Thanksgiving meals we hope we can relieve a little bit of the burden during this holiday season.  I’ll be here celebrating alongside the people of these communities, and I offer my thanks for the continued patience and support of all of our customers as we continue our restoration efforts in each community.”

Customers who would like to receive meals will need to reserve them – either for pick-up or at a sit-down meal – at ColumbiaGasMA.com/Thanksgiving or by calling 1-877-399-0506. Reservations can be made until November 16.

Sit-down meals in a community style setting will be offered in several locations:

  • Lawrence Elks Lodge
  • South Common Park (heated tent)
  • Pemberton Park (heated tent)
  • Andover Senior Center
For those customers who would like to pick up their meal, they can reserve a scheduled pick up time and there will be several pick up locations:
  • Andover Town Hall
  • First & Main Marketplace in North Andover
  • Elks Lodge in Lawrence

Tuscan Brands, a restaurant and catering firm, will prepare and serve the food at all of the pick-up locations and at the sit-down meal locations in Lawrence.

Additionally, Columbia Gas has joined Schneider Electric and other sponsors to support the Feaster Five Thanksgiving Day Road Race. This annual tradition directly benefits children’s programs that promote health, wellness and inclusion throughout the Merrimack Valley. Columbia Gas employees will also be participating in the race.
